Assuming that you have decided on the location and number of people in your party, these are things to check - not necessarily in this order: you must put them in order of importance to you
1 How many beds in the bedrooms as you need? Many features include a party sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room or on the cheap extra beds in the bedrooms. If this is your scene, it's fine. But if some or all of your party are privacy issues, you must ensure that the property you are considering respects these issues.
2 How many bathrooms do you need? Some couples do not want to share a bathroom, even with their best friends or with your children. Make sure you have the minimum number of bathrooms that will avoid tension.
3 Apartments and houses can be called and self catering, but it does not mean just cooking. If you want to be able to enjoy a pleasant meal and a drink, you need 1 or more features decent restaurant within walking distance.
4 What kind of site you want - downtown (can be noisy, but nice) in nature (quiet, but you have to drive to get to shops, restaurants, etc.), in the village, sea, etc.
5 For those days when you do not want to cook, there are adequate facilities? In hot climates, barbecue may be all you need. But in cooler climates or cooler times of the year, want to be sure that you have more than 2 hotplates, and preferably also an oven.
6 For days when you want to hang around the house and relax, what are your priorities for this: Swimming Pool, TV, DVD player and DVDs, indoor or outdoor games
?7 What range of places to visit if you want to within, say, 1-2 hour drive?
8 Consider time of year you travel. If it is not peak season, make sure the extent to which restaurants, museums, etc. will be open - if that matters to you
.9 Check out time. Make sure that you will not be the type of time which is uncomfortable for you - too cold, too wet, too many bugs, etc.
10 Check the availability of real estate. If the availability of the chart shows, without reservation, do not bother to inquire. Or property is undesirable, or, more likely, the owner can not be bothered to update availability, thereby wasting their time and their own, when you inquire about the dates already booked. This is inconsiderate owners. Benefit those owners who answer your questions quickly and comprehensively.
11 Prices. This is a minefield. Make sure you check out all the additional costs involved, over and above the basic rent. Bed linen and towels, final cleaning, air, and many others can carry additional costs. Check out the payment and cancellation terms. Ask and ask again until you are sure to get complete information. Keep in mind that the properties that seem to be priced above or below market levels for the type of property and the surface may have a reason for it. They can be expensive because they are better than average or cheap, because they are worse than average or May there be other reasons. Do not hesitate to ask.
12 Think about all the places you've visited before (including hotels and houses of friends and family). What are the things that irritate you? Uncomfortable sofas? Dirty knives and forks? Would I be able to smoke or have non-smoking property? Take your pet with you or be sure that the dog hair anywhere. Duvets instead of sheets and blankets, or vice versa? Think about getting the little things with you that will make your stay pleasanter. As a favorite pillow or a corkscrew.
13 Probably the most important thing: if you're looking at an ad for a vacation rental or a web page, go down your list and tick off things that are explained there. In these days the internet, there is no justification for rent owners did not provide any detailed information you want. If they do this on their website, you can request to start the process with some confidence that it is the owner who takes care of its guests. If you need information exists, it may be that they do not care, but are poor at explaining what is offered - when their place, it is sometimes easy to overlook what you need to spell out to potential guests. If you need information that is not in the ad, brochure or website, ask, ask and ask again. uncaring owner you'll quickly get fed up with your questions. caring owner will want to tell you everything you need to know. Even if most of the information on the website and the like, and continues to ask questions. Again, a good owner will not mind giving the information is already available.
No list can offer a complete security when booking vacation rental - just visit the property beforehand could do it - usually impossible because of the distance. But be sure to check off each of these items in this list - leaving some of them, if they do not matter for you, adding another in which they are important - will go a good way on the road to a happy holiday. One problem that can not be covered in this way the purity, but sure you are booking with the 'owner who cares' gives you some certainty about this issue too.
